In the game rules, they are treated like normal Basic, Stage 1, or Stage 2 Pokémon and bear the wording “The Mega-Evolved Form of …” in the upper right corner.

The card designs retain the gray border of the Scarlet & Violet series, but introduce Full-Art Item cards for the first time. Full-Art cards of Mega Pokémon ex show the Pokémon’s normal form in the background. Illustration cards and Special Illustration Rares also return—these latter often depict the Mega Pokémon in artistic battles together with their pre-evolutions. Brand new is the “Mega Hyper Rare (MHR)” rarity. These gold cards feature exclusive illustrations and appear on average in only one out of 1,000 booster packs.
